Red Batman

I didn't feel like writing an essay

Space Assignment

(x)

A space and mapping assignment where the concept is that we illustrate a personal map of the locations we often go to on campus.

For me, there were only four places that I regularly visit: The art and business colleges for classes, the library for alone time, and the HTC center for replacement earbuds and comics catalog which isn't very impressive.

College Inks

Line

Movement

Some college ink assignments. For the first couple weeks the theme was to demonstrate each of the principles of art and design.

Glitch Girl

Digital painting practice I did over the summer. Inspired by the Blade Runner billboards aesthetic.

More old crap

Redraw of Sean Gordon Murphy's Punk Rock Jesus. I just wanted a poster for my room.

Jubilee painting that I hate

Mojo Jojo ink

Bunch of other high school stuff not worth noting. Only original piece here is the blaxploitation poster which I kind of want to redo some time down the road.

Democracy

Senior Year High School. Assignment was a propaganda piece done with stencils and spray paint. I based this one off the Iranian Green Movement of 2009 which arose to protest their presidential election that they regarded as fraudulent. Green was used within the movement as their symbol of unity and hope.

The image of the protester had to be made in Photoshop since there was none like it on Google images. I clearly messed up on laying down the text so I just made the whole thing even messier to make it look intentional.

My art teacher at the time liked it enough to have it be submitted in the local art museum so that's pretty dope.

Cowardice

A sketchbook assignment from my senior year in high school. Premise was to find a poem within a page of a book, cut it out, and smack it on top of a drawing.

The poem I found created a nice theme about fear and cowardice so drew a lion skull in reference to the cowardly lion from Wizard of Oz. I also added in the tagline underneath because I was afraid that no one would get it.

Waking The Jetstream

I believe this was during sophomore year of high school. Basic idea of the assignment was to illustrate, within the lenses of glasses, what you'd miss seeing if you were to go blind.

I also included the name  of a song from a band I was listening to at the time to fill out the empty space between the temples of the glasses and ended up turning it into a sort of tribute or promo for The Go! Team.

First blog post

I hear that in order to be a successful artist you have to have a presence online so I made every social media account I could think of. This being one of them. Mostly going to post artwork I've done for school and maybe the occasional blog post delving into my process or whatever.

Anyway, I guess I should write something about me to introduce myself. As of right now I'm a college freshman majoring in Graphic Design in hopes to come out of it with some sort of art career. Not much of a plan but it's what I got right now.
